Description

 

Use the Newegg connector to retrieve and analyze customer feedback on items sold on https://www.newegg.com. 

 

Data limitations

This data connector does not support the Canadian version of the web site, https://www.newegg.ca. 

 

Newegg does not impose limitations on the amount of data that you can pull, but for products with a very large number of reviews you may want to limit it yourself using the Comment Limit option or by narrowing the date range.

 

If you have issues with no data, try widening your date range on the second page of the wizard.

 

Input fields

When setting up the connector, provide the URL of the product or products for which you want to analyze customer reviews. 

  • Newegg Product URL: On the Newegg web site, navigate to the product and from the address bar, copy the URL, then paste it into this field.

  • Add new search: To analyze multiple versions of the product or multiple products, click this as many times as needed to add more URLs.

  • Upload: Click to upload a file containing a list of product URLs. Takes a TXT file with one URL per line.
    (CSV is also acceptable, but it must have one URL per line.)

  • Comment Limit: It is a good practice to set a limit on the number of comments returned.

You can change your date range on the second page of the wizard, or optionally Schedule data crawls to update your data stream periodically.

 

Data dictionary

This connector returns the following fields that you can use in analysis.

 

Cons

  • Description: Free-form text of the reviewer's cons about the product.

  • Category: text index

Country

  • Description: Reviewer's country.

  • Category: geo index

crawler_time_stamp

  • Description: Date and time on which the review was crawled in numeric format.

  • Category: meta

DataSource

  • Description: Data source of the review.

  • Category: meta

Date

  • Description: Date and time of the review in numeric format.

  • Category: date index

Ownership

  • Description: Length of time the reviewer has owned the product. (Change data type to textual.)

  • Category: meta

ProductID

  • Description: Newegg ID number of the product reviewed.

  • Category: meta

ProductName

  • Description: Newegg product name of the product reviewed.

  • Category: meta

ProductURL

  • Description: Newegg URL of the product reviewed.

  • Category: meta

Pros

  • Description: Free-form text of the reviewer's pros about the product.

  • Category: text index

Rating

  • Description: Reviewer's rating of the product.

  • Category: KPI

Reply

  • Description: Free-form text of any replies to the review.

  • Category: text index

ReplyTitle

  • Description: Title of any replies to the review.

  • Category: text index

Review

  • Description: Free-form text of the review.

  • Category: text index

ReviewCount

  • Description: Total number of reviews for the product.

  • Category: meta

ReviewTitle

  • Description: Title of the review.

Specification

  • Description: Options or specifications of the product reviewed.

UserName

  • Description: Name of the reviewer.

  • Category: user index

Verification

  • Description: Value indicating whether the reviewer is a verified owner.

  • Description: Adds all output fields to a list visualization.
